Travel Smart: Our Commitment to Safety in a COVID-19 World

As we look forward to designing tours in the new public health landscape, we are committed to providing clients with safe experiences that align with expert protocols for working to defeat COVID-19. We will actively monitor and evolve our procedures to ensure a continued focus on the health and safety of our clients.

On-Tour

Tour Managers

Tour Managers do, of course, normally interface with our clients during a tour. Schools Out Tours will now be offering two options for our clients:

Standard Tour Manager: Your tour manager(s) will follow the Public Health advisories of the moment with regards to physical distancing and measures to implement when social distancing is not possible (e.g. masks, hand washing, sanitizer, etc.)

Virtual Tour Manager: We will provide a tour manager, operating from their home office, who will provide a full tour manager service and be available to the group at each moment of the tour.

Meals

Under normal circumstances, some meals – lunches in particular – are not included in standard group tour packages. This can require all the participants to interact individually with food vendors. We will offer a group meal solution for every meal on the tour, which will minimize the close contact with restaurant personnel.

Activites

Daytime will have a new focus on outdoor activities wherever circumstances and weather permit. Evening activities will limit general public concerts and shows. There will be offerings of custom designed and packaged events just for your group

If a Student Becomes Ill

The teacher/chaperone leader, with the support your SOT Tour Manager, will implement an appropriate crisis management plan based on the severity of the illness. Schools Out Tours will work with the tour leader(s) to prepare crisis plans based on the following, or similar, criteria:

  • If the student shows signs of having a fever or cold
  • If a student needs to miss an activity due to illness or injury
  • If it’s an emergency
  • If the student needs to return home

General Operations

Virtual Office

Schools Out Tours operates on a ‘virtual office’ model and therefore does not have public spaces. All aspects of our tour planning process are implemented and available to clients without the requirement of standard office visits or hard copy paperwork.

Virtual Presentations

In cases where group planning or information sessions are required, we will make provisions for optional Virtual Attendance. We may also supply digital resources such as a PowerPoint presentation for independent review by participants.

Employee Screening

Schools Out Tours will screen all employees that have occasion to interact with our clients. Employees with possible Covid-19 symptoms will not be placed in a situation of physical contact with our clients. Should an employee test positive for COVID-19, they will be required to self-isolate and also follow all recommended Public Health procedures.

Suppliers & Partners

In order to enable a positive travel experience while combating the transmission of COVID-19, Schools Out Tours is working with suppliers to identify the touchless solutions, enhanced sanitation procedures and best practices that are being implemented for the health and safety of our clients.

Schools Out Tours will only use suppliers that meet or exceed Public Health guidelines for operating safely in the new COVID-19 environment.

Supplier procedures and practices will be available and communicated to clients upon request.
